Pine Bluff Downtown Development
PBDD has been working with McClelland Consulting Engineers, Incorporated, to plan and execute the Main Street Streetscape Project. The Pine Bluff City Council has approved the project with $500,000 awarded to the city of Pine Bluff from a Federal Highway and Transportation enhancement grant. Once the StreetScape is completed, Main Street will see significant changes. The first phase of the project will go from the Jefferson County Courthouse to Fourth Avenue; the street will be condensed to two lanes with a median separating them. The sidewalks will be widened and the Bradford pear trees will be removed and replaced with deciduous canopy trees that are adaptive to urban conditions. Phase One’s costs are projected to be around $2.3 million. The second phase will go from Fourth Avenue to Eighth Avenue and cost roughly the same.
